Join the Iranian Languages Corpora Project
Are you a researcher, linguist, or speaker of an Iranian language? You can play a key role in documentation of Iran’s rich linguistic and cultural heritage by contributing to the Iranian Languages Corpora Project. Getting involved is simple—you only need your phone. Record an audio clip and share it with the project team through WhatsApp, Telegram, or Google Drive. After processing, your contribution will be published on the website under your name.
We welcome all kinds of materials related to Iranian languages and local cultures, including:
- Word lists and verb conjugations
- Example sentences to describe grammar
- Proverbs, idioms, and expressions
- Folktales, stories, and historical accounts
- Local customs, traditions, and personal memories
For vocabulary, verbs, and example sentences, you can use the corpora available on the site as ready-made questionnaires.
Video recordings are especially valuable for documenting local traditions. For the best results, please record with a camera and external microphone, as mobile phone recordings often lack sufficient sound quality. If you have access to proper equipment, we would be delighted to receive your videos as well.
Tips for contributors
Record in a quiet environment with minimal background noise.
While the Iranian Languages Corpora team will edit, transcribe, translate, and subtitle your recordings, providing even a simple transcription (in Latin or Persian script, for example) and an initial translation will greatly speed up the process.
By sharing your audio and video, you are helping to document the cultural and linguistic heritage of Iran.
