Kurmanji is a variety of Kurdish, also known as Northern Kurdish, and is spoken mostly in Turkey, but also in parts of northern Iraq, as well as in the west of West Azerbaijan Province and northern Khorasan in Iran. Silvâne is a city in the southwest of West Azerbaijan Province, 30 km west of Urmia, where a variety of Kurmanji is spoken.
